# Product features

Feature diagrams allow the user to define the physical characteristics that define a product (e.g. type of coating and colour). The defined scheme is linked to the product or set. For products with a defined scheme, the relevant feature values can be selected when creating an offer, e.g. matt coating, RAL 7016 colour.

# DEFINING A FEATURE SCHEMA

Master user rights are required to set up feature schemas. The schema function can be found by selecting RS Roofs5 / Product features.

In the schema, we can define up to 5 features and any list of values for each feature

To add a new scheme, select the NEW ITEM button

  • In the field Character scheme name, enter the name of the feature. This name will later allow the schema to be assigned to a product or set.
  • In the following lines, define further features as in the screen above.
  • To save the scheme, select the Save button.

Next, define a list of feature values. To do so, select the Details option for the scheme.

  • (1) To add an item, select the + icon.
  • (2) in the feature code column you need to enter the code for the feature (for example, HUTA, SLOPE, COLOUR)
  • (3) in the feature value code column you will find the code for the value (a short unique symbol for the value)
  • (4) in the column Trait value name is the display name of the feature value
  • (5) in the Superior trait code column, the code for the superordinate trait can be entered.
  • (6) Superior trait value code. The item will be displayed when a parent feature with the specified value code is selected for features with a lower number. It is important that the parent code is the concatenation of all parent features. If, in the example given when defining a colour, the smelter code is AR and the coating code is RAL then the parent feature code for COLOUR should have the value ARRAL meaning that this is the colour when the smelter AR and coating RAL are selected
  • (7) the value of mask of commodity index is used in customised integrations with ERP systems

# ASSIGNING A SCHEMA TO A PRODUCT OR SET

The newly created schema can then be assigned in the product dictionary for each product.

# SELECT FEATURES FOR OFFER

When a product has a feature scheme defined, it is possible to select features in an offer.

On the Offer lines tab for products with a defined scheme, you can select the icon (1) to specify features

Then, in the features window, you must:

  • (1) select the list of offer items for which traits are being changed.
  • (2) select the values of the feature tree
  • (3) select the button Set traits for selected products.
